Asking $225 or BO
Use it for a car, truck, or boat!!!
Sorry, I won't split up the parts...heads and engine are one listing. Due to its weight, this is not available for shipment.
This is a 1978 Chevy 305 engine. It was from a 1978 Chevrolet Camaro. This engine has 75,560 miles on it. I am the second owner. The engine was removed in 1995. It was in running order when I took it out of the car. The engine turns by hand, by grabbing on the crank pulley and turning. The oil and filter were always changed regularly. It is in good condition and includes:
Stock assembled short block
Stock oil pan painted high temperature black
Clean Cylinder heads (see below) painted high temperature red. The casting number is 376450 on both.
Stock valve covers painted high temperature red
Pulleys, brackets, flywheel cover, and fan
The heads have been professionally gone through by Springfield Crankshaft. The valve springs are Competition Cams valve springs (part number CCA-981-16). These are a heavier duty springs that would go well with a Competition Cams camshaft (part number CCA-122062). Otherwise, the heads are stock (just re-machined to remove the carbon buildups, etc). The original valve springs will also be included. If you want the engine to be stock, you could have a mechanic replace the springs for about $40 labor. Then you could sell the CCams springs on EBAY. :)
Everything is neat and clean, so it does not have two inches of grease on it. It does have enough oil on it to keep it from rusting. Any rust is just surface rust. I would recommend getting the engine rebuilt, but at minimum you will have to put a head gasket kit on it. When I rebuilt a different Chevy V8 before, I used Fel-Pro gaskets and they worked great. Parts for this engine are extremely common and relatively cheap. This engine takes 5 quarts of oil (including filter). The engine has a 8.5:1 compression ratio. In stock form it produces 145 Horsepower and 245 ft/lbs of torque. With a more aggressive cam, pistons, and carb this engine could make a lot more. The nice thing about the 305 V8 is its thicker cylinder walls so there is extra room for cylinder boring.
